You are aware that in 2018, the Digital Security Act was passed. However, due to its broad application and vague provisions, the law was regularly misused for malicious purposes. Keeping the severity of this law in mind, the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) is conducting a research project to monitor and analyze cases filed under this law. Recently, the government has amended this law after five years and adopted a new law called the Cyber Security Act 2023. In this context, the Centre for Governance Studies is organizing a webinar titled " Five Years of the Digital Security Act: 2018-2023 " to discuss experiences of the victims and overall picture of the cases filed under this law. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, 30 April 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Dr Ali Riaz, Distinguished Professor of Illinois State University, will be present as the keynote Speaker.   

Among others, the webinar will include discussions by; Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Secretary, SHUJAN: Citizens for Good Governance, Faruq Faisel, Executive Director, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), Shafiqul Alam, Bureau Chief, AFP, Rozina Islam, Senior Reporter, Prothom Alo, and Shihab Uddin Khan, Barrister-at-Law, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Chairman of CGS Dr. Manjur Ahmed Chowdhury will preside over the webinar. The program will be moderated by Zillur Rahman, the Executive Director of CGS.
